Welcome to TK Welcome Back Night!
Ms. Félix, TK-August 15, 2018
Class Mission:
My mission for my students is to educate the whole child. I intend to prepare my students academically, spiritually, and physically. My goal is to encourage learning and to set the foundation for their educational and spiritual growth.
Student Expectations:
I expect every student to come to school daily, on time, and ready to learn. The students in TK will respect each other, follow directions, grow in their Catholic faith and abide by all school rules at all times.
Classroom Rules:
All students follow the rules that are implemented school-wide.
God’s Team Rules:
Daily Folders:
Students have a daily folder. Please check their folder daily. Besides homework, their folders will have any letters, flyers, receipts, etc. sent home from the office or from myself. Please make sure to sign and return any papers as soon as possible and place them inside their folder and keep any paper work at home that shouldn’t be returned. Also, if you want to send me a note or a note to the office, place it in their folder and I will make sure I get it and respond to it as soon as possible and we will make sure we send the note to the office, as well.
Weekly Bulletin:
I will be sending home a weekly bulletin to share what will be happening in class that week, about the Star Student of the week, service hours opportunities and friendly reminders. It will be going home every Monday. Please be on the lookout for it.
Blue St. Columbkille Folder:
The blue St. Columbkille folder will not go home daily. It will go home every week (or every other week depending on workload) on a Friday. This folder will contain your child’s completed work. Please make sure to review every test with your child, then sign the test, place it back in the folder, and then sign the back of the folder. Please look at their school work, review it with them, and keep it at home. The folder is due Monday.
Attendance:
Students will only receive a perfect attendance award if they attend school daily, all day (no early leave), and on time. Students will get marked late if they are not inside the classroom August through December and in line in the auditorium from January through June after the 7:55am bell.
Uniform Policy:
All students are required to wear a uniform daily.
Restroom Policy:
Students will be taught to go to the restroom before beginning our day, during recess, during lunch, and before ending our school day to try to eliminate learning interruption. I do allow students to go to the restroom during class time. Please provide a doctor’s note if your child requires special permission due to a medical reason. Make sure we have an extra pair of clothes in the class ready in case of an accident.
Lunch Policy:
Students will be served a snack and lunch daily. If you wish to pack your child a snack and/or lunch please let us know during drop off. If you do not pack your child a snack or lunch, we will serve them and you will be charged accordingly.
Field Trips:
We will have a field trip during the school year. I will be asking for chaperones. If there are more chaperones available than allowed, we will have a raffle. In order to attend the field trip, you must be Virtus trained and fingerprinted. Please make sure your certificate is up-to-date within the last three years.
Money Policy:
Students shouldn’t bring money to school. The only time students are known to have money in school is when there is a fundraiser going on. You will be informed about any fundraisers. We collect their money and put it in baggies with their name. Then we pass them out during the time it is needed.
Birthday Celebrations:
The day your child was born is a special day! I give recognition to your child on their birthday. If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday, you can do so during the following times 12:00-12:30pm. You can only bring cupcakes and juice packs (for 23 students). Please let me know one week before if you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday so we can prepare accordingly.
Star Student:
This year in TK, we have a weekly Star Student. There is no special order on how students are chosen. All students are chosen in a random lottery. Students are given their poster to fill out on the Friday before their week. Please help your child complete the poster over the weekend. Each day of the week, they are asked to bring in something different to share with the class. The instructions will be inserted inside of their folder. Do not remove the instructions from the folder.
Dismissal:
TK students are on a different school schedule. We dismiss at 2:30pm Monday through Thursday and at 12:15pm on Fridays. Students are dismissed at the daycare gate. I can only let your child leave with people you assigned on the emergency card or the dismissal sheet. At 2:45pm (12:30pm on Friday dismissal days), students will be walked over and be dismissed from the regular dismissal gate (office entrance gate). At 3:00pm, we walk them over to daycare.
How to contact me:
If you need to speak to me or have a concern, please schedule an appointment in the office (323)758-2284 or send a note with your child. You can also email me at [email protected] or visit the school’s website as well. I check my emails daily. I am also available before school after school (3:10-3:30pm) during these times without an appointment. But please keep in mind that when the 7:50am bell rings, I have to begin my day with your children and give them my undivided attention. I am asking that you please respect your child’s instructional time, and do not interrupt during their class time (7:55am-2:30pm). I would like to give each and every one of you the attention you deserve.
Thank you and God bless,
Ms. Mireya Felix
